No Way, Mama
Greta has heard us use the phrases "this way" and "that way" while driving in the car. Each morning and each afternoon while going to and from school, Greta and I talk about traffic rules, we play "I Spy" and we discuss any and all dogs that come into our view. There is one point on the trip in both directions when Greta says, "No way, Mama." And she points in the same direction each time indicating that she'd prefer to go "this way" and not "that way" - - which is straight ahead. And both times I just keep going straight ahead explaining that we must go straight in order to get home or to school, as it were. And each time, she cries for a minute when we don't travel the way she'd prefer. So yesterday on the way home, I decided to make the left turn that Greta is always wanting me to make. As soon as I did, she started clapping. But eventually, I had to take a right in order to get us back in the general direction of home. Greta started crying, "No way, no way!" and shaking her finger back and forth at me. Paul says that one day I should just let her direct me and see where she's trying to take us. It is kind of amazing to me that she's two years old and knows her way around Charlotte better than I do. :)

Greta is so smart! I love it. I hope you follow Paul's advice sometime and just see where you end up. :)
