Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving! We started the day like this - - with Greta snoozing in her new jacket. We bought her this little hoody and another coat a week ago, and Greta loves both so much that she refuses to take them off once inside. When she's winding down each night trying to get to sleep she calls out for things: blanket! baby! milk! - - and now . . . jacket! Last night we put it on her, zipped it up, and she had a nice long sleep in her new hoody. This Thanksgiving was our very first one all by ourselves. Paul and I have always either spent this holiday with friends who are like family or with our actual family members. We did that today, too, but it was the first time it was just our own small, little crew. We started the day with the Charlotte Thanksgiving Parade uptown. It was kind of cool and misty raining, so we didn't hang out there for too long.
Then back home for massive amounts of food preparation, courtesy of Paul. He made a wonderful meal for us, and I was his sous chef, of sorts - - cutting and cleaning when he needed me. I was told by my dad several times today that I am lucky to have Paul since he likes to cook. I agree!
After the big lunch, we watched the Lions get beaten - - another Michigan tradition - - and then took a family nap. When we woke up . . . we ate PUMPKIN PIE! Here's G literally two minutes up from the nap - - sweaty but up to her elbows in the whipped cream that she and Paul were making.
They made the "puh-kin pie" last night, but the big reveal with homemade whipped cream came late this afternoon. Yum!
We are so thankful for family, friends, work we love, a nice place to live, a healthy child, an easy pregnancy, and all the joy that creating these traditions brings. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
