Quick Update

My parents have been visiting us for the last week, and because we've been busy hanging out with them, I have neglected Greta's blog. But there are some very important updates to be made, indeed. Several major things have happened in the last week or so.

First, Greta is categorically waving hello and bye bye, she's using her fingers to make her lips make that cute motor noise, and she's doing a lot of pat-a-cake. These hand gestures just sort of happened overnight and all at once. Darling. She's been dancing to music for some time now, but this last week, she even dances to sing songy-type books (think: Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?)

Second, she is cruising the furniture now - - walking around from couch to table, and all along the bathtub. She's even walking behind our laundry basket if we weight it down a little. Without the weight inside, the basket is too light and it gets away from her. I looked into buying a little push toy for her to walk behind, but when I saw the price tag of the wooden toy I wanted, I decided we'd better stick to the laundry basket since she'll probably be walking for real in about a month (or at least my mom thinks so!).

Third, she is standing alone for ten or fifteen seconds at a time. Then she gets wobbly like a little Bambi or some animal baby, but for those first few seconds she's pretty stable.

I will try to capture all of this on camera or video, but thought you just might like the update now. Maybe it's the grandparents' visit that has brought out this wave of newness. In any event, Greta Goose is growing up! Bitter sweet even at nine months.
