I really love hiking in Chile because most of the time, we are completely alone. Our trip to Yerba Loca, a sanctuary about an hour outside of Santiago, was no exception. We had a picnic, hiked in, and sat in a stream for the better part of a day, and we saw very few other people. Not that I need nature all to myself, but I've been on hikes that got stalled for all the crowds trying to converge on a single trail. Not so here. Just us and the horses.
We decided to stop to put our feet in this stream, and the afternoon turned to our trying to make a dam. The children succeeded, and had so much fun. I just sat on a rock with my camera and took photos of their togetherness. Bliss.
The finished product. Not a trace of moving water. Well done!
