March, April, and May!

Wahoo!  We are in the home stretch now.  Almost caught up.  Here are the photos from March, April, and part of May, 2014.  And hopefully the end of the catch-up mega posts!
Greta and Wyatt have started helping in the kitchen where there is cutting to be done. They each have a designated cutting board and a designated knife - - routine and repetition keep us sane around here.
A few little pictures from the birthday party of one of Wyatt's school friends.

One day out of the blue, Sara and Jeff showed up for some impromptu t-ball, swings, and hilarity.
On all those long Sundays when Paul worked on grad school stuff, Greta, Wyatt, and I found ways around town to otherwise occupy ourselves.  One of our favorites has been biking on the Greenway followed by frozen yogurt.  Wyatt is learning to ride his balance bike and Greta was still using her training wheels this Spring, but we recently removed them.

Nana and Grandaddy (aka Wompass Cat) visited in March.  While they snuggled with Greta early Saturday morning at the Y, Wyatt began his very first soccer practice!

Grandaddy and the green chair turn into a jungle gym from time to time.

Probably the biggest things to happen this Spring were Greta's lost teeth!  The first one she lost was extremely loose and was hanging on by a thread.  Nana arrived, and about thirty minutes later, that tooth was GONE!  Greta recently told me that Nana is her best friend.  I think it speaks a great deal about their relationship that Greta only trusted my mother to pull her tooth.  Greta's second tooth was in need of being pulled, and G was determined to wait for Nana's next visit so that she could do the pulling the second time around.  We coaxed her out of that idea, but it took some prodding.  Greta almost pulled it herself, but after working on it for well over an hour, she finally let me pull it.

The tooth fairy is pretty awesome, I must say.  Greta received this heart for her first tooth and this flower for her second tooth - - each made of two dollar bills.  I suspect a trend . . . .

One night recently, Paul was looking through the cabinet for something and stumbled across this old bottle of Scotch.  He drank a shot of it and so did I.  It had been one of those days.  A few minutes later, it seemed like a good idea to have a little more.  Later, we moved the party into Greta's room and played a raucous game of Old Maid while finishing the Scotch.  Best night cap and made the game just hilarious . . . .

We hang out very often in Charlotte's greatest park - - Freedom Park!  This is a new attraction at the park that was put in by the Carolina Panthers. G and Wy like to time themselves here to see how fast they are.  They sleep well after a visit to this park.

Greta's bestie from preschool - - Stewart!  They had fun at Stewart's birthday party.

As we began to ready ourselves for our move to Chile, some of our very best friends moved to Slovenia.  Michael and Melissa moved a month or so ago, and we were very sad to say goodbye.  All the hood came together for their Farewell Party.  Good, good friends.
Price, Bodhi, and Wyatt work their super powers while Michael and Paul figure out whose green shirt is best.
This is what children are supposed to do.  Melissa and I were boo hoo'ing while our boys splashed around in the mud.  Love them.

Tea Party with Greta, Red Dog, Brown Baby, Bitty, and Laughy.  It was a laid back affair, despite the high roller guest list.

Wyatt reading his first comic book.  It scared him and he threw it away.  So much for that!

First soccer game!  He looks so cute, that I just wanted to cuddle him the whole time rather than letting him actually play the game.

We had a wonderful visit with Philip, Lisa, Emma, and Louis, too!  Emma was doing some college tours, and these fine folks spent a few days with us on route to Georgia.  So great to see them once more before our big move.  We missed Maddi, though!

Spring!

To the beach, one last time - - this time around.
                                                          Sweet, sweet, sticky friends.
These kids are so smart that they can play Monopoly and Chess at once!
Bathing beauties!

Amigos!
Grandma and Grandpa spent a week with us, and Grandpa taught Wyatt a few things about tackle football!

Grandma hooked Greta up with some sweet matching Bitty Baby clothes.
It was fun sharing our Easter with them!

Grandpa even helped Wyatt and Greta find a few eggs they missed.

Who says you cannot eat an entire chocolate bunny for breakfast?
Greta sang on Easter morning with her church choir.

Before.
After.
(Mary coached me through my first-ever deviled eggs!)

We spent the afternoon next door with the Mastos for their Easter party.  This is the best I could do to get a photo of these sweeties:  Joey, Wy, Anna, Micah, Greta, Luca, and Colin.

Nane and Grandaddy came a few days after Easter and spent a little more time with us.  We are so grateful for all the visitors these days!  Greta and Nana worked on a quilt for Bitty Baby.

In early May, we drove up to Maryland to visit Steve and Heather and their babes.  We had a fantastic long weekend with them.
Lainey and Wyatt were two peas in a pod.

Evan showed Wyatt some of his lacrosse moves.  He wants Wyatt to like lacrosse as much as he loves it.  We even got to see one of his games.

Eli was clearly the big guy around these parts.  We didn't see as much of him as the other children.  He was super busy flying all over the neighborhood with his friends.  But we snatched him up from time-to-time, and he took care of the little ones very well.
This was hilarious.  Emmy kept holding onto Paul's head and in the process, covered his eyes more often than not.  She is a sweetheart.

Sweet cousins.

Thanks Heather and Steve for hosting us!  We had a fabulous time reconnecting!

The whole messy bunch.
Silly willies.

After Maryland, we headed to DC for a meeting at the Chilean consulate.  Then we spent the day wandering around the Mall and the Air and Space Museum.  I used to eat lunch by this carousel when I worked in L'Enfant Plaza.  It's fun to take my kids to this little piece of history and to remember my own history, too.

The old park bench.  T + P still visible!

Paul defaced government property for a second time.  We have to combat all those fresh coats of paint!

Mother's Day!  Breakfast in bed!

A final farewell from my "Suggested Book Club" ladies.  I've spent almost six years seeing these women once a month to discuss good books. We've mostly devolved into a wine drinking club, but that is useful, too.  Almost everyone in this photo has had a baby - or two - during those years and we've helped each other through all the rigors of pregnancy, birth, child rearing, careers, marriage, and dating life.  It's been one of the best group relationships I have ever had, and leaving it will leave a hole in my life, for sure.
