We spent Thanksgiving this year in Mississippi. We had excellent weather that made for a wonderful visit with family and friends.
Greta and I did a little crafting on Thanksgiving morning while Mom was making all of the food. During breaks from the Macy's Parade, we made turkey and pilgrim hats for everyone to wear. To our great surprise, everyone wore a hat during the meal!
This kid won't wear a hat even if it's twenty degrees outside, but he wore this hat all during our meal.
We spent the rest of the week seeing the sights in north Mississippi, notably this fish hatchery. The catfish - literally - almost jumped out of the water when we began to feed them. I wonder if they knew that we'd be eating some of their brethren in a few nights to come?
Next stop, the coy hatchery.
We could walk down to one end of the long pool and the fish would follow us en masse. Then we'd turn and walk to the opposite end, and they'd all fall in line heading in that direction.
We had ourselves a little picnic, and Greta gave Grandaddy a push.
Then G and Wy enjoyed their first-ever merry-go-round. Why are these things not in parks now?
It would not be time spent with Nana without the obligatory biscuit-making photo op. She got creative this round and made star and candy cane shaped biscuits.
Toward the end of the week, we spent a day in Oxford and took a walk on the trails behind William Faulkner's house. I have not been on this trail since college, and it is much improved. So great to be able to take my little ones here. Greta was totally enthralled with our walking around Faulkner's house given the fact that he is dead. She couldn't wrap her head around the idea that the house is actually a museum now. I think she felt like we were trespassing.
And it wouldn't be Thanksgiving without the old standards.
A nice snuggle during Snoopy's big feast. Thanks to Nana and Grandaddy for hosting us. We had a wonderful holiday and loved spending time with you!
Looks like so much fun!! Love you!!
