Tuck in my paws, ahem, my hooves

Today we went to Latta Plantation just outside of Charlotte to do some leaf collecting with a couple of Paul's Science Olympiad students.  While there, Greta and I wandered off for a bit to watch an equestrian competition.  Greta had never seen anyone riding a horse before today.  We talked with several children and adult riders and got to pet a few horses.  We strolled around the stables and watched one horse owner feed her horse, Tucker, a peppermint candy!  We watched horses getting their hair braided and we even saw one horse getting a bath.  Greta loved it!  We spent the evening at a church picnic where Greta and Wyatt ran for three hours non-stop.  It has been a long day.  At the end of it all, I was putting Greta to bed, and she started calling me "Owner" and she asked me to call her "Tucker".  When she began to neigh and winnie, I figured out the game.  I fed her a pretend peppermint (which I'm sure she now thinks is a normal horse treat), brushed her pretend mane, and at the very end of the tuck-in, I put her blanket over her.  She said, "Owner, you forgot to cover up my paws."  "Tucker," I said "you should know that horses don't have paws - - you have hooves."  To which Greta/Tucker replied, "Well then, Owner, tuck in my HOOVES!"   And since it is nearly 11 pm, I'm off to tuck in my own hooves.  'Night y'all.
