Halloween Mega Post

I have been pretty engrossed in a book lately, and I have spent my free hour each night reading rather than keeping up with this blog. Therefore, prepare for a few mega posts until I either get caught up or get interested in another book. We started the preparations for Halloween with our annual trip out to the pumpkin patch/farm. We went one afternoon with Carrie and Mike and their babes. Wyatt enjoyed the patch as long as he was not in it; he wasn't a fan of his bare skin touching the pumpkin vines. A little prickly. Greta and Colin watched the horses.
So did Anna and Wyatt.
We picked a few pumpkins. . . .
. . . and then road them around in the wagon. We didn't actually purchase any, though.
Wyatt liked the pigs, but G was unimpressed.
Here's the whole group! Thanks guys, for a fun afternoon!
Pretty soon, the innocent pumpkin decor was replaced by a few more sinister items. This witch kept us company over all our meals and ended up being a guinea pig for Greta's experiments in hair fashion - her locks were braided and put in pony tails throughout October.
On Halloween day, Greta's class (the 3s!) had trick-or-treat in the classroom and then had a little parade. I spent a few hours in her classroom and had so much fun seeing how her days are spent. We ate together and sat in the circle together and went outside during playtime. It gave me a pretty incredible window into Greta's day.
Right after school, we drove out to Carey and Lisa's neighborhood to trick-or-treat.
Wyatt was a sweet pumpkin even if he was a little under the weather that night. Thanks, Nana, for round two of this costume!
All the guys. Sweet Silas and Wyatt will be hanging with the big kids in no time.
Before the major festivities, Greta and Alex got fueled up.
And the "mummy" got a fresh wrap.
Then they grabbed their bags and hit the street!
This was Greta's first year to trick-or-treat, and she got the concept about one house into it.
Here's the whole crew checking out the loot at the end of the night. Yes . . . that is . . . chocolate on Wyatt's face and chest. Guess who gave that to him. . . . (one guess). The night after Halloween, the Sugar Plum Fairy came to our house and gathered all the candy Greta left for her. She is building a Candy Castle and needs all the candy she can get. As payment for the candy supplies, the Sugar Plum Fairy left a nice little stash of tattoos, stickers, glow-in-the-dark bracelets and the like. Tonight as I was tucking Greta into bed, and I was giving her kisses all over her face, she said, "Watch out! Don't kiss my tattoo!" She's growing up.
Finally, we ended the magic by putting away all the Halloween decorations and tucking the witch back into her box in the attic. Greta talked sweetly to her and told her goodbye until next year. Happy Halloween, everyone!
