Hampa
In Niger and in most of Africa women carry their babies on their backs from birth all the way through the toddler years. Screaming babies suddenly become quiet and fall asleep the instant they are put on their mothers' backs. In Zarma (the Nigerien language Paul and I learned while in Peace Corps), this act is called "hampa". While I choose to "hampa" Wyatt in a front sling, Greta is a big fan of hampa-ing Red Dog right on her back. :)
