The beach in the morning is lovely. We got there this early only a time or two, but it was so nice to be there mostly alone.

We found a little water area cut off from the ocean to explore. Lots of little fish get trapped here every day until the tide comes back for them. It was a good place to drink coffee and take it easy.

After our morning out, we enjoyed some down time inside while getting ready to go to the beach for the greater part of everyday. Of course - - that included getting our nails done. A week or so ago I got the fingernail polish remover down from the cabinet and told Greta that we needed to take off the old (mostly gone) polish, and she instantly got teary-eyed: "But . . . Lindsey put that there." She is still wearing the last little flakes of that polish these two weeks later.

Wyatt got a little shut-eye most mornings before heading out into the sun.

And some days he'd just get a snuggle.

And some days he'd stay home with someone and we'd catch him later. Wyatt is pretty lily white to spend too much time on the beach!

There was a pool in our little neighborhood, so we spent time there when we felt like very warm water and no sand. Paul took Greta there after dark one night and they watched frogs.

But occasionally, we did make it to the beach. :) Parker and Lindsey usually took the lead.

Even Wyatt eventually made it to the beach.

We played in the sand.

Worked on our tans.

Solved the mysteries of the world.

And even rode a choo choo train one night.

We went down to the beach for sunset a few times, and on our last night there, we got a bunch of nice shots. Here are all the guys.

A Wyatt/Paul self-portrait.

A good one of Lori's whole family.

Little G showing off her brand new undies.

We discovered that Nana gets silly at dusk. . . .

See what I mean?

Now we know she's lost it. :)

Greta enjoyed the sea right down to the very last bit of sunlight.

This is the place where I grew up going to the beach. We took a few days each year around Memorial Day, and those vacations are some of my best childhood memories. I know that my sister feels the same way. To watch my children play in more or less the same happy spots and do the same traditional things that I did when I was little made it one of the best weeks we've had as a family. I am happy we were able to make it work this year, and I'd love to make it a tradition! Goodbye Florida - - we had an amazing trip!
I wish we were still there!!! :)
