Portland and Seattle

A few weeks ago, Wyatt, Greta, and I flew out to Portland to see my sister's family and my mom for a few days. I had a work conference in Seattle toward the end of the week, and since Seattle is just a few hours from Lori's house near Portland, we sneaked in a nice visit before my conference. Wyatt spent nine (yes nine!) hours en route in order to arrive in Orgeon and feast on his first solid food. Parker held Wyatt on his lap while we tried out cereal for the first time. It was a hit! But of course, there were more exciting adventures to be had in the Pacific Northwest. First, there were cousins with whom to catch up! Lindsey came home from college for the weekend, and Parker made room for us in his busy fifteen-year-old guy schedule.

Greta fell in love with Luci all over again and stayed by her side the whole time we were at Lori's house.

But all that familial bonding had to come to an end at some point, and we just had to get out of the house. Off to the farm! Where else? Nana gave G some goat-feeding lessons.

She kept her hand out flat just as she was shown. That goat must be starving.

Wyatt enjoyed snuggling up to Aunt Lori. He was quite happy to gaze at the goats from on high.

The next day, we headed out to Eugene, Oregon, to visit Lindsey at the University of Oregon and to see her new digs. Greta may have found a new rival to MSU!

Lindsey's room in the Kappa Delta house on campus.

Wyatt looks pretty happy hanging out in the sorority house, huh? I've got my eye on you, mister.

After a few days, it was time to pack it up and head North to Seattle. I was in my conference during the days while Lori and Mom and the kids toured around Seattle. I did have one night, though, to meet up with some of our Peace Corps friends, Jason and Laura and their son Leo. We spent nearly three years with these folks in Niger, and even now a decade later, they still feel like family.

During the other days in Seattle there was an ocean to see,

The first-ever Starbucks to visit,

A cheese factory to sample,

And of course, fish to be thrown.
We had a great time visiting our family and seeing a new city. THANKS to Aunt Lori, Uncle Bruce, Parker, Lindsey, and Nana for a wonderful week. We love you!
